We all know that I just LOVE Starbucks. She is a friend to me when I am in a strange place, with no family or friends. She holds my hand on a warm summer day, and she keeps me safe on one of those cold Richmond mornings. And even though I know she's not great for me, I'll never give her up. However I have cut back... a lot! I practice my YOGA as much as I can, and meditate whenever I feel the need, but I'm not a yogi telling you to just quit what you enjoy. Life is about being happy, and sometimes happiness comes from things that others may say bad things about. I believe everything in moderation is great for you. So drink your coffee. Unless you really do get mood swings, and crazy, well then you should stop.
But if you are like me, some days I just try other drinks. Here's a great recipe for a Flower Drink.
What you'll need:
2 cups Jamaica flower
8 cups water
1 cup sugar (whichever you like)
1. Place Jamaica flowers in large pot with water, and bring to a boil. Remove from heat, and steep at room temperature at least 1 hour or overnight.
2. Strain liquid into clear glass pitcher, and press down on flowers to extract all liquid possible. Discard flowers.
3. Add sugar, stirring to dissolve. Add more sugar if drink is too tart, or more water if drink is too strong. Cover, and refrigerate for up to two days. Serve cold.
